The Daily Asker: An open letter to Wamu regarding overdraft "protection"

  • Sheryl · 1 year ago
You actually can cancel your overdraft protection, but you have to get ahold of a banker who:
    1. Knows this.

    2. Knows how to do this. (It is a form that the banker submits, not the customer. The customer just needs to tell the banker that the overdraft protection should be canceled.)

    3. Is willing to take the time to do this. Since WaMu rates call center bankers by call time (the shorter, the better) and the form is time-consuming, this is unlikely.

    Hi,
A banker who would be willing to do that seems like a rarity, you're right. What benefit would they get? But, good to know for the next account I open.

I had even asked this teller, to be fair, "Is there anyone else who can help me or are you positive this simply can't be done?" and you know the answer.

    Thanks for letting me know!
